Heroes: the TV show

Continuing to hype a show that I haven't even seen yet:

tv.com summary of what the show is about

Sounds a LOT to me like Unbreakable the movie, but as a TV series. Which is a good thing.

OK, I finally watched a couple episodes and am generally positive about the show although it is darker than I thought it would be.

I kinda initially figured it to be an XMen TV series in a sense... but it actually turned out to be more like Unbreakable than I thought when I blogged this! That is to say it is the same odd pacing, dark themes, and not what I would call suspense but ... mystery... surrounding a lot of the scenes. Like they are trying to force feed small morsels of information from a much larger plot to you and doing it deliberately to make you wonder what they are getting at.

There are still XMen similarities: the compulsory genetics/evolution blah-blah, the voice over at the start and end of each episode, and some other character similarities.

Overall I'm giving it a 7.5/10 for now. Hopefully as the season unfolds the larger themes and characters will unfold and the show can really hit its stride.

To add to this post: plucky Japanese office worker, Hiro, is played by a dude who is also a graphic artist for ILM. hehe.
