Cheese-O-Meter

Now you can tell if someone is not smiling hard enough, as there is software to tell how well you are smiling rating from 0 to 100%...

I'm sure to put in a suggestion to add an enhancement to include an appropriate emoticon smiley... :D

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom review...

Haven't had a good look at this as I'm not into digital photography workflow (I'm a 'point, shoot, hope and pray for a few decent shots' kinda guy *grin*), but seeing that this may interest a number of people... and it's from Ars Technica...

blog/podcast of the day: camera position

Jeff Curto is a lecturer at the College of DuPage in Illinois, teaching the history of photography (you may have heard me speak of that podcast before). He also has a blog/podcast that deals with the creative/technical side of taking pictures:

http://www.cameraposition.com/

Current podcast/blog entry is on the topic of 'the Zone system' which is a way of thinking about scenes in terms of exposure and how the light sensor in your camera works. Very educational and useful.

portrait lens tests

Some guy did tests on a whole range of lenses, mostly Nikon but there are comparisons to Canon lenses including the 50mm f/1.8. He's looking for sharpness and bokeh quality, and has made his own conclusions, but check it out for yourself.

The History of Photography: the college course

A podcast produced alongside a college course. Each podcast is a 2 hour lecture.

Yes, some will find this incredibly boring. But I think I'll find this interesting.
Note: I've listened to the first 50 minutes of the first podcast and it is all just an intro to the course, syllabus etc. Skip the first hour if you can.
